"The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is certainly a wonderful setting for your special day. We offer several wedding packages from venues for your ceremony and reception, to a location for photos only."

Brian's View:

This is a good venue for a summer wedding outside. The wedding venue and, if you've chosen the Caledonian Hall for the celebration, is in one sector of the gardens and will cater for up to 70 guests. However, its a public venue so you and your guests are free to roam the gardens within reason, so photos can be taken anywhere. The park staff are aware of the wedding and will support your reasonable requests for access. Parking inside the gardens isn't allowed and outside is on metered rates.

John Muir Grove for Ceremony

Marquees are not allowed (as far as I know) so if it rains, the Caledonian Hall is your refuge, although the glass houses are a decent, if tropical, alternative. The hall is bright and makes for good indoors photography. The ceremony takes place in John Muir Grove, a lovely open space surrounded by and protected by mature pines (see below). On a hot summers day this is a delightful oasis of coolness. One minor problem was getting to the grove as the bride has to cross a grassed area; not good if its soft (it was) and she's in heels with a long train (she was)!
Registry Signing in John Muir Grove
Pros: Good value; delightful outside setting; ideal for an American-style ceremony; cool in summer; celebration can continue beyond garden closing time; good photography venue.
Cons: If its raining its wet; inside catering; no marquees allowed; open to public at all times.
